Van Buren Township, MI

Costco Distribution Center

The Distribution Center located in Van Buren Township is Costco’s first in the State of Michigan and is built on 80 plus Acres.

Some challenging aspects of the project included sharing a common drive with a functioning manufacturing facility and not interrupting their truck traffic while expanding Belleville Road and building a common Boulevard shared by both facilities.

Earthwork operations started during one of the wettest springs on record and included moving and placing over 540,000cy of fill, in most cases so underground utilities could be installed. Lime stabilization was completed as fills were made and prior to placing 39 acres of aggregate base for concrete and asphalt paving.

Underground utilities also included electrical and communication duct bank, storm water pump station and underground detention system.
