Detroit Entertainment and Event Center Foundations

The Detroit Entertainment and Event Center is better known as the future home of the Detroit Red Wings.

This project involved the excavation of all shear towers, pier caps, grade beams and wall footings for the arena. The pier caps on this project were located at grade and up to a depth of 10’ below finished floor. Due to the close proximity of all the footings the pier caps were all constructed by first driving sheeting prior to excavation. Three large shear tower foundations were also constructed by tight sheeting and then excavating.

The entire area of the practice rink is held up by grade beams. AICC was able to construct these grade beams using neat excavation and benching to all this work to be poured without forms.

AICC also graded and placed all of the stone for the event level prior to placement of slab of grade.
