Occupying 32 acres at the University’s North Campus Research Complex, MCity simulates the broad range of complexities vehicles encounter in urban and suburban environments. It includes approximately five lane-miles of roads with intersections, traffic signs and signals, sidewalks, benches, simulated buildings, street lights, and obstacles such as construction barriers.

Iafrate Construction has worked on numerous projects at the University of Michigan over the last 20 years.

Iafrate Construction was subcontracted by the University of Michigan to manage the construction of the MCity complex. Iafrate Construction self-performed all of the land balancing, MSE reinforced slope, underground utilities, site concrete, and restoration. Close coordination with the 15 subcontractors on this project was required to complete the project on time and within budget.
